Dear Frieda,
Sincere thanks for your letter from 7 July and the birthday wishes! The [illegible] package unfortunately hasn't arrived yet - I probably won't ever get it now, because for a week I've been stuck here in Galicia in the Carpathian foothills. On our 5-day [illegible] trip here I also went through [illegible] and [illegible], but I was only thinking of you all. [illegible] send[s?] regards. [illegible] the train stopped [illegible] at one station, [illegible] at another. It's [illegible] beautiful here; nature is decorated in the first ornaments of spring, but it still freezes over in the night, which is really uncomfortable, since we're bivouacking. Heartfelt greetings to you all,
your Richard

Liebe Frieda!
Für deinen Brief vom 7.4. und deine Ge-
burtstagswünsche herzl. Dank! Das Pickert-
paket ist leider noch nicht angekommen,
ich werde es jetzt auch wohl kaum noch
erhalten, weil ich seit 1 Woche hier im
Galizien in den Ausläufern der Kar-
pathen stecke. Auf unserer 5tägigen
____fahrt hierher bin ich auch durch Böh-
m u. _________ gekommen, habe Euch
aber nur in Gedanken[.] Grüße senden _____
wird der Zug _____ in der einen, _____ in
der anderen Station gehalten hat. Hier ist
es ___sschußlich wunderschön, die Natur
steht im ersten Frühlingsschmuck, aber nachts
friert es noch, was recht unangenehm ist,
da wir biwakieren. Herzliche Grüße Euch
Allen dein Richard.
