A form letter from the U.S. Army Recruiting Station Wichita, Kansas to Mr. Davis dated February 23, 1920.
This letter is meant to inform Mr. Davis that his name had been received from the Adjutant General of the Army as one who was entitled to a French Memorial Diploma in memory of the death of William L. Davis. It goes on to say that the diploma was lost in the mail along with a large number of other like diplomas. It goes on to instruct Mr. Davis to fill out the black form at the bottom of the letter with the name, rank, company, and organization, along with the name and address of Williams next of kin. Upon completion of this form, Mr. Davis is instructed to mail the form to the U.S. Army Recruiting Station. The letter is from one Colonel C. E. Ide.
The form was never filled out.
