|Object Name||Postcard, Inscribed|
A postcard from Russell Oliver Weathers to Mrs. C. A. Crale (sister) in La Monte Missouri dated October 9, 1918.
The front of the postcard has a black and white photograph of Chambery, France. In the foreground is a park with newly planted trees and a monument. The monument is of a man looking across the park to the town. The town takes up the middle of the image while gentle mountains can be seen in the background. The caption on the top reads '3013. Chambery- Vue du Nouveau Jardin Public' which is French for view of the new public park.
On the back Russell wrote "This is a picture of one of the cities in the 'base area', where I am spending my furlough. Have seen some wonderful things, will write and tell you about it when I get back to the company."
From the World War One service of Corporal Russell Olive Weathers, 1460375, Co. D, 140th Infantry Regiment, 35th Division, A.E.F.
