Dear Madam: This will acknowledge receipt of your communication of November 20, 1939, in reference to the benefits of the World War Adjusted Compensation Act, commonly called bonus. The Act provides if a veteran dies prior to filing his application, the adjusted service credit is payable to his dependents in the following order of preference: widow, if she has not remarried prior to filing application, children, mother, father. There is enclosed herewith a Form WWC-1 which the preferred dependent should execute and forward to the Adjusted Compensation Branch, Adjutant General's Office, Washington, D. C. The form should be executed and forwarded before January 2, 1940. All future communications relative to this case should show the veteran's name and refer to the number XC-64,111. Respectfully, H. L.
