Tuesday. [July 21, 1931] Dear children, There is not much to write about its just another day. We had our first rain last night and the ship tossed more than ever But at that it was not bad. Yesterday at noon we were half way over some of the Mothers have forgotten their mission and are getting homesick I am taking everything just as it comes and enjoying it all Love Mother Mrs [Charles] Baker 537 Tennessee Kansas City [Missouri]

From the Gold Star (War Mothers and Widows) Pilgrimage of Agnes Fraas, mother of Frank X. Fraas, Jr., 1931. Private Fraas was a member of 129th Field Artillery Regiment, 35th Division, AEF and was killed on October 7, 1918. He is buried at the St. Mihiel American Cemetery.
