Archie L. Haynes pay record book.
The front page of the booklet reads 'individual pay record book', and 'This book will be carried by the soldier in his personal possession'. On the front page 'Soldiers individual pay record book No altercations of any kind will be made in this book. Necessary corrections of erroneous entries will be effected by making a new entry properly authenticated. It is made they duty of all members of the A.E.F. finding an individual pay book to mail same to the Chief Quartermaster, A.E.F'. The second page of the booklet has spaces for the personal information of the soldier who possess the pay book. The soldier number, name, grade and organization, occupation service information, date of birth, war risk insurance information is filled out. The next two pages are dedicated to detailing how the monthly pay for the soldier is broken down. Only two columns are filled out corresponding to Haynes' rank, one for when he was Sargent and one for when he was Private. He had a monthly salary of forty-four dollars as sergeant, and thirty-three dollars as private. The next page lists of all the times that Haynes received his pay, which was once a month between September, 1918 to February 1919. After several blank pages with spaces to list when potential pay would be received there is a copy of the general order that brought pay book into existence.
