He died as a brave Bavarian hero.
in prayerful memory of the virtuous young man Johann Moser, economist's son in Aschhofen, soldier in the 12th Bavarian Infantry Regiment, 2nd Company, holder of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, who, on 26 November 1917, after 15 months of combat activity and at the age of 20 years, 2 months, suffered a hero's death for the Fatherland by means of a grenade in a defensive battle near Verdun.
His body rests in the military cemetery at Ecurey near Montmedy.
