|Object Name||Postcard, Inscribed|
Postcard with inscription, describing the image of French cemetery.
Caption on Front: SAINT-MIHIEL
Inscription on Back, Transcribed: This is a picture of Jerry's cemetery at St. Mihiel. Some of the stones show a 1914 mark. They evidently were quite confident they had come to stay permanently or would not have gone to the trouble they did with their cemetery. There are several more just like it in France, but this is the only one I have seen. Notice the emblem of the iron cross on many of the stones. Quite a lot of difference between this scene and the graves on the battle fields.
