Description German Death Announcement

Interior Translation:

[left side]
Prayerful remembrance of the virtuous young man Josef Stahuber, farmer's son in Reisachöd, Hornist in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 9th Company, who, on 7 October 1917, at the age of 22 years and after 14 months of combat activity, suffered a hero's death due to an infantry headshot near Menin (Flanders).

I needed to leave my loved ones,
To march into enemy country.
There I had to yield my life
For God and for the Fatherland.
Alas, we had to take our leave
And, for the last time, we reached our hands to each other
Here, we will never see each other again,
But we hope we will in a lovelier land.
Be still, be still my poor heart,
It was God's will, bear the ache silently.

Our Father.Ave Maria.
Merciful Jesus, give him eternal rest!
