Struck by the killing bullet
You sank down in the enemy land;
You gave your life for the Fatherland, -
You will be called a hero for it.
You earned yet a higher honor,
Yet a better lot beckoned you:
A youth without blemish, without censure
Is also great among the heavenly ones;
As a reward for your honest striving
You have earned "the Crown of Life." -
Our Father.Ave Maria.
Merciful Jesus, give him eternal rest!
