Martin Kometer
Replacement Reservist in the 19th Royal Bavarian
Reserve Infantry Regiment, 6th Company

[right side]
In prayerful memory of the virtuous young man, Martin Kometer, economist's son from Unterreith, replacement reservist in the Bavarian 19th Reserve Infantry Regiment, 6th Company, who suffered a hero's death for the Vatherland on 22 June 1915, at the age of 23 years, from his injury which he received on 20 June in heavy combat near Soltysp in Galicia.

Struck by the killing bullet
You sank down in the enemy land;
You gave your life for the Fatherland, -
You will be called a hero for it.
You earned yet a higher honor,
Yet a better lot beckoned you:
A youth without blemish, without censure
Is also great among the heavenly ones;
As a reward for your honest striving
You have earned "the Crown of Life." -

Our Father.Ave Maria.
Merciful Jesus, give him eternal rest!
