Description German Death Announcement

Interior Translation:

[left side]
In prayerful loving memory of the virtuous young man Johann Reitmeyer, landowner's son from Feldolling, soldier in the 3rd Bavarian Rifle Regiment, who, on 15 March 1917, in his 21st year, died a hero's death for the Fatherland due to severe injury by grenade shrapnel.

Sorrowful was the departure
Before setting off to the war,
But the pain cannot be named,
Since he never came back.

The hour of death struck too early,
Yet God, the Lord, appointed it,
Our son died a hero's death
In enemy territory for the Fatherland,
His blood flowed,
Alas, too quickly for us, he was so good.
