Summary The story of 300 Americans who dashed up to Canada in 1917 to earn their wings under the tutelage of the Royal Flying Corps. Later called the "Military Miracle of the First 300", they formed the nucleus of the U. S. Air Force. They are the only U. S. fliers in history who are privileged to sport a gold "U.S." insignia on their pilot's wings.
