From the service of Walter Hamilton Lillie. Left Yale for service with American Field Service Sections 10 & 4, was an ambulance driver with the French Army on the Balkan Front (Greece, Albania and Serbia) and on the Western Front at Verdun. January 1918 enlisted in France in U.S. Signal Corps, Aviation Section. Completed anti-aircraft artillery school and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, was at 2nd and 3rd Aviation Instruction schools, stationed at St. Aignan at Armistice.
