From the Catalogue of Official A.E.F. Photographs taken by the Signal Corps: "The burning of Thiacourt on the afternoon of September 12, 1918. The fire was started by a German 6.2 shell. This town is now under constant bombardment. One night the Germans dropped five gas shells per minute for over two hours. Thiacourt, Meurthe et Moselle, France. September 21, 1918.
