Description Uniform, U.S. YMCA women's service garment. Gray green wool material. Open collar styling with wide notched lapels. Lightweight, white cotton collar is sewn to inside of uniform lapels. Snaps sewn to inside of uniform collar are hidden by front of bodice. Bodice front is lined inside with black material. White perspiration protectors are also sewn in. Seven mottled tan buttons serve as closures for uniform front. YMCA insignia on right sleeve has background of grey-blue with red embroidered triangle and YMCA letters sewn in red on strip that partially covers the triangle. Measures: W 5.2 cm x H 4 cm. Blue strip with "ENTERTAINMENT" in red letters stitched approximately 15 cm below YMCA insignia. Strip measures: W 13 mm x L 8.8 cm. Left sleeve has single gold bullion service chevron on dark blue material. Chevron sewn to lower sleeve. Six smaller buttons, matching those on front of uniform, are used at cuffs. Two darts sewn into back of bodice produce tailored look and slight gathering has been done at bodice front where attached to waist. Matching belt with on e button closure is attached at reverse of waistline and buttons in front. Two slash pockets with button closures just below the waist on right and left sides. Two pleats create a panel on reverse of uniform skirt that extends the length of the uniform. Seam allowances have been pinked, but many bodice seams were left unfinished. Hem line basted and sewn in with green bias tape. Basting thread remains. Measurements: Shoulder seam to waist (sleeve side): 35 cm. Waist to hem: 86 cm. Collar width (center back): 8.3 cm. Belt measures: 5.2 cm wide and 105 cm length.

From the service of Miss Eleanor E. Washburn of Pine Grove - Chicago, Illinois. Miss Washburn served as a member of the Lyceum, providing entertainment for US troops on leave in Aix-les-Bains, France. Eleanor Wasburn arrived overseas in France January, 1919 and returned to the United States aboard Cap Finisterre Auugst 1919.
